31st December: Happy New Year

Lewis: Iceland Gull Loch Barvas.

Benbecula: Male Lesser Scaup and male Scaup on Coot Loch. Grey Phalarope still in Stinky Bay, this morning.

South Uist: 1st winter Glaucous Gull Drimsdale.

North Uist: late news from 27th: Mary Clare Ferguson found a juvenile Loggerhead Turtle on Baleshare beach.

Loggerhead Turtle and Grey Phalarope.

The large container turns out to be a Beer Vat, Hurray, unfortunately it's reported as empty.

30th December:

Benbecula: Male Lesser Scaup and male Scaup Coot Loch. Grey Phalarope Stinky Bay.

South Uist: 33 Scaup on Loch Bee.

                                         Grey Phalarope and Long-tailed Duck (Steve Duffield); Sperm Whale plus Jacqui and Troy (Martin Scott).

This rather large container is proving to be quite an attraction.Washed up yesterday just south of Stinky Bay, Benbecula.

29th December:

Lewis: Glaucous Gull Loch Barvas.

Benbecula: Male Lesser Scaup and male Scaup on Coot Loch. Grey Phalarope in Stinky Bay.

Lewis: 2nd w Iceland Gull at Gress. 3 Scaup at Loch Tiumpan. Goosander at Barvas.

A 40 foot Sperm Whale has been washed up on the beach at South Dell, Lewis.

Benbecula: Male Lesser Scaup on Coot Loch.

27th December:

Benbecula: Male Lesser Scaup and male Scaup on Coot Loch. Great White Egret Loch Fada.

South Uist: 1st w Glaucous Gull Ardivachar.

South Uist: Hybrid male Ring-necked Duck x Tufted Duck Loch Stilligarry.

25th December:

South Uist: Great White Egret at Drimsdale on Loch an Eilein.

Lewis: Glaucous Gull at Barvas.

24th December:

Outer Hebrides: Fat man with white beard being pulled on a slay by a flock of reindeer, one with a red nose! Happy Christmas.

Lewis: Brent Goose on Gress beach.

Benbecula: Male Lesser Scaup and male Scaup on Coot Loch.

South Uist: 1st w Iceland Gull at Peninerine.

22nd December:

North Uist: Female Ring-necked Duck on Loch Eaval along with 19 Whooper Swans.

Lewis: 26 Snow Buntings Port of Ness and a female Shoveler on the sea off here. Jack Snipe Loch Stiapabhat. 2nd w Iceland Gull Stiapabhat plus 1st w at the Butt of Lewis. Pair of Goosanders Loch Barvas. 41 Barnacle Geese at Dun Eisgein. Hen Harrier and 4 Goosanders in Liurbost area.

20th December:

Lewis: Velvet Scoter and  Iceland Gull Stornoway.

South Uist: Female Blackcap and Woodcock at South Glendale.

Barra: 1st yr male Velvet Scoter Cornaig Bay, Vatersay. 1st yr male Scaup Loch Tangusdale. 30 Brent Geese Eoligarry and 112 Barnacle Geese Fiaray.

19th December:

Harris: 3 Surf Scoter (2 male and a female) in the Sound of Taransay. Also between Taransay and Toe Head: 83 Great Northern Divers, 71 Common Scoter and 13 Slavonian Grebes.

Sound of Harris: At least 50 Great Northern Divers, 190 Long-tailed Duck and 10 Slavonian Grebes.

18th December:

Lewis: Juvenile Pomarine Skua in Broad Bay off Port nan Giuran. 2nd w Iceland Gull and 3 Scaup Loch Tiumpan. 3 male Velvet Scoters off Mealabost. Also in Broad Bay were: 289 Great Northern Divers, 7 Slavonian Grebes (off Coll), 90 Common Scoter, 299 Long-tailed Duck and 579 Eider.

South Uist: Chiffchaff South Glendale.

17th December:

Lewis: 1st w Iceland Gull Reef / Valtos.

South Uist: Kentish Plover off Hebridean Jewellery.

Lewis: Black-tailed Godwit Brue Pools.

14th December:

North Uist: Female Ring-necked Duck Loch Eaval.

Benbecula: 1st w Iceland Gull Gramsdale.

South Uist: Kentish Plover off Hebridean Jewellery. 12 Snow Buntings over Balgarva.

13th December:

Benbecula: 1st w Iceland Gull at Gramsdale.

11th December:

North Uist: 40 Snow Buntings on Borve machair, Berneray.

Benbecula: 1st w Iceland Gull at Gramsdale.

10th December:

North Uist: Richardson's Canada Goose with around 60 Barnacle Geese at Oban Trumisgarry reseeds.

South Uist: Red-necked Grebe in the Sound of Barra between north-west Eriskay and the Pollachar. 2nd yr Glaucous Gull Balgarva.

9th December:

Benbecula: Scaup on Coot Loch. 28 Snow Buntings and 2 Common Redpoll Muir of Aird.

South Uist: Chichaff at Kinloch B&B. Woodcock Druidibeg Plantation. Kentish Plover off Hebridean Jewellery.

8th December:

South Uist: 1st w Glaucous Gull Ardivachar Point.

7th December:

South Uist: Glaucous Gull and 30+ Snow Buntings at North Bay.

6th December:

Lewis: 2 x 1st w Glaucous Gulls Stornoway Dump.

Harris: 1st w Iceland Gull Scarista. White-fronted Goose Northton.

3rd December:

North Uist: Ring-necked Duck Loch Eaval.

South Uist: Kentish Plover South Ford. 44 Snow Buntings Ardvule.
