Autumn  / Winter Deals

For the autumn / winter period of 2007 / 08 Western Isles Wildlife have teemed up with the Tigh Dearg Hotel and Lionacleit Guest House to offer a very exciting opportunity to stay in first class accommodation and explore the Uist islands and its wildlife with the best local wildlife guide.

Why come in autumn / winter?

  • It's the best time of year to see Otters.

  • It's excellent for birds and probably the best time of year to see all eight of the resident birds of prey

  • Hordes of migrant and wintering wildfowl and waders.

  • In the autumn many rare and unusual birds have been found, yet very few birders live or visit during this time of year. Visiting in the autumn / winter period is a pioneering experience and there's always the chance of finding something very rare indeed.

  • Red Deer are rutting in October and Grey Seals are pupping in November.

  • Experience miles of golden beaches without a soul in site.

  • Exhilarating sites and sounds as Atlantic waves crash along the western shores of the Uists.

  • Warm and friendly welcome from the islanders.

What you get:

  • We are offering a two or three day break in either the Tigh Dearg Hotel in Lochmaddy, North Uist or the Lionacleit Guest House in Benbecula.

  • The accommodation is first class in both locations and provided on a B&B basis (both can provide evening meals too).

  • You will be picked up from your port of entry whether you come be air or sea and taken to your chosen accommodation. You can leave your own transport in Uig or Glasgow / Inverness and let someone else do the driving for you.

  • Your guide will then take you to the best locations for wildlife over the following two / three day period. We have access to all the most recent information on the location of the birds and a reputation for finding lots rare and unusual species.

  • We know the best sites for Otters and there's a good chance you will see one during your stay.

  • An excellent introduction and taster to what the Uists have to offer.
