28th February:

Benbecula: A female Pochard and drake Scaup are on Coot Loch.

Curlew juvenile White-tailed Eagle Curlew (Steve Duffield); White-tailed Eagle (John Kemp)

 

27th February:

Lewis: A drake Green-winged Teal is on Loch Stiapabhat; also a ringtail Hen Harrier and a Fieldfare in the area.

North Uist: 6 Fieldfare are still in Carinish.

26th February:

Barra: The 2nd winter Glaucous Gull was again at Traigh Eias.

 

25th February:

North Uist: The Gyr Falcon was seen on Baleshare today. 12 Fieldfare were at Claddach Cnoc a Lin and 6 were in Carinish.

24th February:

North Uist: A juvenile Glaucous Gull flew over the North Ford off Carinish this afternoon.

South Uist: 26 Fieldfare were at Kildonan. 2 Slavonian Grebes were at the south end of Loch Bee.

23rd February:

North Uist: 6 Fieldfare were in Carinish.

22nd February:

North Uist: 5 Pintail are on Loch nam Feithean and the Coot is still on Loch Sandary.

 

21st February:

Lewis: 4 Iceland Gulls (an adult and 3 juveniles) were at the Butt whilst an adult Glaucous Gull was on the machair just north of Loch Stiapabhat.

North Uist: The Gyr Falcon was seen at Kyles Paible early afternoon.

Benbecula: The female Pochard and a Black-tailed Godwit are at Coot Loch. 7 Greenland White-fronted Geese were on Loch Mor.

South Uist: The Whimbrel was at Ardivachar again today.

Barra: A 2nd winter Glaucous Gull was at Borve in the morning and a 2nd winter was at Traigh Mor in the afternoon.

20th February:

Benbecula: An adult Glaucous Gull was at Creagorry around midday.

 

19th February:

Benbecula: A female Pochard, drake Scaup and a Black-tailed Godwit were at Coot Loch.

 

17th February:

Shiants: The juvenile Glaucous Gull was on Eilean an Tighe this morning.

North Uist: 25 Brent Geese were on Baleshare.

 

15th February:

North Uist: 150 Snow Buntings were at Borve, Berneray and a pale-bellied Brent Goose was on Loch Bhrusda.

 

14th February:

South Uist: A Greenland White-fronted Goose was at Bornish.

13th February:

North Uist: A Brent Goose, Pink-footed Goose and 40 Goldfinch were on Berneray today.

Benbecula: The female Pochard was on Coot Loch.

South Uist: A Whimbrel was at Ardivachar. A Lapland Bunting was seen at Balgarva this afternoon.

 

12th February:

Lewis: A juvenile Iceland Gull was in Stornoway harbour today.

North Uist: 70 Brent Geese were on Baleshare. 9 Fieldfare were in Carinish.

South Uist: 7 Common Scoters were off Ardvule this morning.

11th February:

Lewis: A male Hen Harrier was by Loch Orasaigh this morning.

Harris: 3 Surf Scoters (2 males and a female), 125+ Common Scoters and at least 34 Slavonian Grebes were in the Sound of Taransay.

Sound of Taransay: A juvenile Iceland Gull was seen from the ferry this evening.

North Uist: 5 Pintail and 9 Shoveler were on Loch nam Feithean this morning.

South Uist: A Fieldfare was seen in South Lochboisdale.

 

10th February:

Lewis: 2 juvenile Iceland Gulls were at Loch Orasaigh this morning; plus 6 Fieldfares were nearby. A juvenile Glaucous Gull was at Loch Ordais, Bragar.

South Uist: The drake Green-winged Teal was at the north end of Loch Bee.

9th February:

Lewis: The Slavonian Grebe was again on Loch Orasaigh.

South Uist: A drake Scaup and a Slavonian Grebe were at the north end of Loch Bee today.

 

8th February:

Lewis: A 3rd winter Iceland Gull was on Loch Branahuie. 2 juvenile and an adult Iceland Gull were at Tiumpan Head. A Slavonian Grebe is on Loch Orasaigh, Arnish moor.

Sound of Harris: 108 Great Northern Divers and 8 Slavonian Grebes were seen from the ferry this morning.

Barra: A Chiffchaff was at Skallary and the Whimbrel was still at Brevig.

Marine Sightings: A Minke Whale and at least 3 Harbour Porpoise were off Tiumpan Head this afternoon. 2 Harbour Porpoise were seen in the Sound of Harris.

7th February:

North Uist: The drake Green-winged Teal and Coot are still on Loch Sandary.

South Uist: A juvenile Iceland Gull was at Ardvule.

 

6th February:

North Uist: 9 Fieldfare were in Carinish.

South Uist: The drake Green-winged Teal was again at the north end of Loch Bee. The Gyrfalcon was around Bornish machair this morning. 4 Fieldfare were in Bornish.

 

5th February:

North Uist: A juvenile Iceland Gull was in Lochmaddy bay.

South Uist: The Gyrfalcon was seen at Ardvule this morning. The drake Green-winged Teal was at the north end of Loch Bee.

4th February:

Lewis: 3 Glaucous Gulls and a Snow Bunting were at the Butt of Lewis. A Green-winged Teal was on Loch Stiapabhat and 4 Fieldfare were nearby.

North Uist: 9 Fieldfare were in Loch Euphort. A Black-throated Diver was at Cheese Bay, Loch Portain.

South Uist: The drake Green-winged Teal was at the north end of Loch Bee again today.

 

3rd February:

Lewis: Late news of a white Gyrfalcon at Eoropie on 1st February, eating a gull before heading towards the Butt.

Harris: A juvenile Glaucous Gull was on Eilean an Tighe, the Shiants this morning.

North Uist: 8 Fieldfare were in Carinish.

South Uist: The drake Green-winged Teal was at the north end of Loch Bee.

 

2nd February:

South Uist: The drake Green-winged Teal was at the north end of Loch Bee. An adult and a juvenile Iceland Gull were at Ardivachar.
